Anyway, I hope you're all always feeling awesome. Today, I'll be sharing with you a little interview I had with the Friendship Team Manager of CosRX, Hye-Young. This is really overdue as this is supposed to be posted last year. Anyway this is for all CosRx fans around the world especially for their Filipino fans.

1. What does COSRX mean?

COSRX is derived from the COSmetics and Prescription(Rx). COSRX is the cosmetic that can be the customized solution for our customers’ individual skin troubles.

2. When and how did COSRX start?

COSRX is a brand built from 14 years of experience in Korea cosmetic industry, product development backgrounds, and various bestselling products.

We have collected what customers need and want regarding their skin types and concerns. Finally, In 2014, all those needs came into “ingredient-oriented cosmetic brand, COSRX” after numerous simulations.

3. Who is the target market of COSRX?

The people who have skin concern are our target. We specialize in those functional cosmetics and we’ve been researching and studying it since 2002. That’s the reason why our representing slogan is EXPECTING TOMORROW.

4. What makes COSRX unique?

We think that all the cosmetic manufacturers are at the same level in terms of technical development. Even under the circumstance, COSRX has several unique aspects.

Unique aspect of COSRX may be defined as cost-effectiveness. We are quite certain that the good impression of COSRX to our customers comes from customer satisfaction due to reasonable price-positioning, satisfactory amount and advanced efficacy of individual products. We think that is why COSRX friends rapidly mounted up from now.

Another one thing we would like to point out is that we develop our COSRX products thoroughly based on customers’ feed-back.

‘‘Galactomyces Whitening Power Essence’ and ‘Low-pH Good Morning Cleanser’ are the typical examples. We believe the relationship with our customers is not just the one between clients and a company, but it is more like the one between friends. We have been making every effort to stand as honest, reliable and friendly brand. We share customers’ feed-back, identify their needs and frankly answer to their questions via COSRX SNS and replies.

So, we prefer to use the term “Friends” than customers, and our Friendship Team which is embedded with the function of CS Team in other companies to communicate with our customers. Our customers, as our friends and staffs, are not only participating in development but also are establishing the brand identity of COSRX together.

5. What kind of products does COSRX have?

Most of COSRX products are high functional cosmetics focusing on skin problems such as acne, pore, etc. What makes COSRX special compared to other brands is an ingredient. Most of our products are defined as key ingredients such as snail mucin, AHA, BHA, Centella, Galactomyces, more.

6. How do you feel that COSRX is now globally known?

It’s really amazing and we all really appreciate our international friends. Recently our products were in stock at Aland, Boons, Watsons, LOBS’ and Olive Young but surprisingly a lot of foreign customers visit at those drug stores to purchase our products when they travel in Korea. Also last year, one of my Filipino friends said to me that ‘Is COSRX the company you’re working for? I read the positive review about how amazing cosrx products are and give me some skin care advice!!’ That’s the moment that I was really proud of what I’m doing here. We will work harder for better products and to let our customers EXPECTING TOMORROW.

7. How do you think COSRX have helped citizens around the world that made them love it?

We think there is no special things. We just make our product to be fit for purpose and we always listen to our customer’s voice. Our first goal is to lessen the burdens of our customers’ skin concerns. The ultimate goal is to help our customers find their own beauty with our products. We are designing the products that are inspired by customers’ desires. Our team believes that cosmetic should look for meanings more than just beauty. So we are devoted to enable individual with each skin type to solve the problem, gain self-confidence, and find own beauty.

8. What’s the greatest ingredient that you think made COSRX one of the favorite brand globally?

Definitely it’s AHA and BHA. It’s hard to find chemical exfoliants, like the our AHA7 Whitehead Power Liquid and BHA Blackhead Power Liquid, that are properly formulated and at the correct pH. It makes our products unique in the market and additionally such products are rare in Korean Cosmetics.

9. Since not all are aware about AHA & BHA. In a simple explanation, what does AHA and BHA mean? When to use them and how does it help the skin?

AHA is water soluble making them more suitable for the people whom breakouts don’t occur frequently. It cannot penetrate the skin as deep as BHA and its effect is felt on the surface of the skin.

Otherwise, BHA is oil soluble that has the ability to penetrate clogged pores and exfoliate them. This makes BHA particularly useful for oily, acne-prone skin.

10. What’s your best selling product/s of all time?

BHA Blackhead Power Liquid is our steady best seller at all time. In my personal opinion, all the COSRX customers already tried it at least once.

It was initially known and used only as a chemical exfoliator, but it turned out to have additional efficacies such as blackhead removal, skin tone treatment and acne relief. Consequently, BHA Blackhead Power Liquid became very famous through word-of-mouth and is now our top selling product. Many of our new customers choose to use BHA Blackhead Power Liquid as their very first COSRX product.

11. Since it is hot here in Philippines what product/s can you recommend for the Filipinos?

I’m also in charge of International CS and I’ve received lots of messages from our Filipinos friends. Tropical country is hot and humid but, dry because of air conditioner. So many people are troubled by dehydration and oily skin both. I recommend One Step Pimple Clear Pad and Oil Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion with Birch Sap for them. The pad is currently best of best seller in Korea because it was featured by Beauty Vloggers as a lifesaver on their youtube. It’s a moisturized pad with BHA 1%. It’s good to clean sebum and dead skin cells before wearing makeup. Your face would take makeup very well. Also the bloggers carry the pad and put on a makeup again in the afternoon after wiping a makeup slightly. You might experience that the makeup is removed by serum and oil during afternoon and then, wipe it with the pad and put a makeup again with other skincares.

The lotion is good for hydration and calming skin because of birch sap ingredient. It’s not oily at all and lock moisture into the skin for a long time. It’s good for all skin type especially oily and sensitive skin.

12. I think, the main concern of most people are oily skin, pores, whiteheads and blackheads, what can we use to address these concerns?

All those skin concern is caused by too much oil or sebum. Therefore, I recommend you to find and use a suitable chemical exfoliator, and care for your skin regularly. The reason why the pores get widen is also clogged pores and it also effects skin tone and elasticity negatively.

13. What should we look out for this year 2017 with CosRX?

There will be a lot of changes this year. First of all, a lot of new products including makeup will be launhced unlike last year. Second, we're going to focus on and enhance the products' design. Third, we're going to expand our business from online to offiline. In USA, already we have been doing since late last year but we're preparing to do this in South East Asia. You will see at the end of this year.

14. And lastly, any advice to everyone who loves skincare?

Find the suitable and right skincare for your skin rather than depending on other’s words!
