I've been busy the past few weeks. I am only able to write again today. Like I've said before I will share my first package pick up encounter at PHLPost Nia Road. I didn't received any notice card the week I was waiting for it but mentioned before I emailed them and was told via email that I can pick it up. So, the day has come for me to pick up my package from Wishtrend at PHLPost NIA Road Quezon City. Since I'm not familiar at NIA Road I just rode a taxi going there.
I arrived at NIA Road Post Office feeling excited and nervous. Claiming of packages are from 9am - 4:30pm only. So, I came around quarter to 10am. I lined up at Window 37 and waited for my turn. Good thing the line isn't long. When it was my turn I stood up and went to the lady at Window 37. I showed the email from the PHLPost team. She checked her list and told me that there isn't a list yet for the packages of the batch I'm in. The Window 37 lady then asked another lady about my package and told me to go her. Let's call the other lady, Lady B.
I went to lady B who fixes the list and was asked to write the details given to me on the email. After writing it on a piece of paper she went inside where all packages are stored. She came out just after a few minutes with the sack of packages. Then she told me to line up again at Window 37.
Then, lady B gave Window 37 lady a paper which I believe is the notice paper. The Window 37 lady immediately called me after receiving the notice paper. She asked for a government ID. I showed her my driver's license and made me sign on the notice paper. Then I proceeded to Window 38 to pay for the postal fee. I only paid Php112. They'll give you a receipt for that.
Time to wait at the claiming section. The guy called my name and showed me the package. He opened the box and checked the contents. He asked me for an invoice because he said cosmetics are not tax exempted. I told him I do not have the invoice because it was given to me as a gift and I have no idea how much they are. Hehe. I said the value is written on the box. He then told me next time to bring the invoice and he did let me go with my package. I said thank you and went home. It was a fast transaction. I only stayed there less than an hour.
I wasn't able to take any pictures but it's easy to check where you need to go. You can also ask the guard on duty. The NIA Road Post Office staff are all nice. They don't yell or anything. They speak nicely. I was lucky to be entertained even if they haven't fixed yet the batch of packages where mine is included.
Tips:
1. Wait for the notice from the post office. I know you are excited like me and all but just wait for the notice to be sent to you.
2. Bring government ID. (Passport, driver's license, SSS, Postal ID. If you have none of this I think you can apply for a postal ID there).
3. DO NOT BRING the invoice. They will really compute and make you pay for the customs tax. Tell the person in charge at claiming section that you do not have an invoice because it was given to you as a gift.
4. Always say Thank You to them.
*Tip: Ask the sender to write it as a gift and make the value of the package lower than the actual price.
